03/06/2013 Product Change Notice (PCN) pertaining the BCM BC67Q industrial ATX motherboard.  This change will be implemented in all BC67Q standard products late Q2 or early Q3 2013.   This notice reflects a major BIOS change adding BIOS support for the new Intel 3rd generation iCore processors (Ivy Bridge) in addition to the 2nd generation iCore processors (Sandy Bridge).  This change provides  significant advantages for our customers as it adds support for a full generation of CPUs not available when the BC67Q was released.  A few of those advantages are:
  • The performance advantage 3rd generation iCore Ivy Bridge processors have over 2nd  iCore Sandy Bridge processors
  • Greater flexibility and efficiency having two generations of processors to choose from and further extending the “sweet spot” lifecycle of the RX67Q
  • Gen 3 PCIe support
  • Utilizing the Ivy Bridge graphics performance because the graphics engine is integrated into the Ivy Bridge CPU
  • Utilizing the Ivy Bridge memory performance because the memory controller is integrated into the Ivy Bridge CPU
