BCM's Statement on the RoHS Directive

Background

With its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, on February 13, 2003, the European Union adopted Directive 2002/95/EC. The Directive restricts and prohibits the use of various heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market from July 1, 2006.

Commitment to Comply

To comply with this directive, all new products currently under development at BCM fall within the directive's requirements. Additionally, select existing products, based on product lifecycle and customer requirements, have been modified or are in the process of being modified to also comply with the directive's requirements. Any BCM product that meets the RoHS directive has the following part number designation: Motherboards/SBC: Any 5 digit part number beginning with the number 7 is designated RoHS compliant. Each compliant motherboard/SBC will also have a RoHS label affixed Accessories: Any 5 digit part number beginning with the number 4 is designated RoHS compliant

Current Status

To achieve our objectives, BCM is working with our supply chain partners to eliminate lead from our products. Any new product launched after July 1st, 2006 will be compliant with the directive and any existing product, designated for RoHS compliant modification, will also be available by July 1st, 2006 either for sample, production, or built-to-order based on specific customer requirements.
