Computer-on-Module Solutions

COMe or called System-on-Module (SOM) is a quick time-to-market solution for embedded applications.

COM Express, computer-on-module (COM), is a very compact and highly integrated embedded computer module that works with compatible carrier boards. Separating the design of the carrier board and COMe module makes design concepts more modular, cost effective, and faster time-to-market.

COMe is an ideal solution for applications that require upgrading CPU performance, while keeping the carrier board’s input/output interfaces to avoid additional developing time and cost. Generally, the adopters already need to spend a lot of resource on a product design, verification, certification, field test, etc. When the CPU or some key components go end-of-life after a few years, the adopters need to spend all this effort again. COM is the answer: the ability to plug a CPU board onto a carrier board reduces the time and cost to update a product. The product lifetime can easily be extended since a newer CPU board can simply be replaced on the carrier board to improve performance or lower cost as they become available.
