What is IPMI?
IPMI = Intelligent Management Platform Interface.
IPMI is a user interface (software) of a set of computer specifications that runs on the server motherboard’s “Baseboard Management Controller” (BMC). It allows administrators to out-of-band (OOB) remotely manage and monitor the server’s settings and performance, without the permission from the computer’s operating system.
BCM HPC server class motherboards and computers are equipped with built-in Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) which enables IPMI out-of-band (OOB) Remote Monitoring & Remote Management to help minimize system downtime and reduce cost of technician field services.
What system administrators can do in IPMI?
